ZPlex
Conformable Total Sandwich System
1 The slender foam cores are woven right into the fabric. Z-fibers fully integrate them with the face skins.
The 100s of slender flexible foam cores move freely like the yarns, providing a deeply conformable structure.
3 The Z columns become rigid once cured, both tying and bracing the skins, carrying the loads, instead of the foam.
Applications
  • Curved parts difficult to make with balsa or rigid foams
  • Lightly loaded parts like car hoods, ducts, engine covers, doors
  • Double walled structures where internal passages are useful
  • Where blind fastening of electronics, hinges, or lighting is valued
