3TEX has joined with Martin Marietta Composites to produce the next generation of blast protection for our military. The jointly developed panels combine two unique 3D technologies for superior performance. These panels are currently being evaluated by TACOM for floor and wall panels to help protect against various blast and ballistic threats, including IEDs. These panels have been tested to withstand 5lbs (2.27kgs) of C4 at 36”(.91m) of standoff and 3lbs (1.36kgs) of C4 at 6”(.15m) of standoff.

This panel provides many benefits to the military, including:

• Improved armor systems capable of defeating the current battlefield threats at a weight that can be tolerated by vehicle platforms

• Panels provide integrated structural armor; i.e. the armor can be a part of the vehicle construction, again saving weight
• It is readily available and cost effective because it is manufactured without the use of exotic, hard to get fibers like carbon, aramid or polyethylene
• The armor is manufactured using 100% US material
