November, 2007  "3TEX lands $2M defense contract"
Rutherfordton - Representative Heath Shuler Announced Tuesday that he has secured a federal appropriation of $2 million for a demonstration project to develop lightweight ballistic and blast protection systems in Rutherfordton. The project was awarded to 3TEX Inc., a Rutherfordton-based manufacturer of three-dimensional textile products. The funding secured by Rep. Shuler will be used for the design and implementation of unique composite vehicle armor that will provide greater protection for combat vehicles without adding weight or diminishing performance.

January, 2006   3TEX has won US Congressional funding for an innovative defense project.  The $2.6 million earmark, part of the Fiscal Year 2006 Department of Defense Appropriations Bill, was awarded to 3TEX for research and development of defense-related products.
